With creative techniques, playful creativity exercises, light and composition based prompts, and tons of hacks and ideas to explore for each one, you'll feel motivated to pick up your camera, experiment with new things, feel inspired and above all, have fun with photography - all year long!
Let’s be honest… sometimes we all need a little extra motivation to pick up our cameras, try new things, or just even put into practice the techniques we already know! Life gets busy, creativity dips, and suddenly photography feels harder than it should.
That's why the The Creative Year is not just another program "to get through".
It’s an inspiring space where we can come together for a full year of creativity — guided by fun, structured weekly prompts that keep you moving, exploring, and making images you’re excited about!
👉 Feel motivated to pick up your camera week after week.
👉 Grow your skills with fresh techniques (and encouragement to use the ones you already know, or put a fresh twist on them).
👉 Improve your photography simply by shooting more consistently and intentionally.
👉 Stay inspired and slip back into that creative “flow” through fun challenges.
👉 Slow down, live in the moment and see the beauty in the mundane, everyday moments and places!
👉 Have fun with photography and feel creative and inspired for a whole year!!!
We’ve all tried those projects where you get a single word for the day or week and… well… you’re just somehow supposed to magically feel inspired 💡
But let’s be honest:
How many of those have you actually finished?
And how many genuinely helped you grow your skills, or made you take more creative images?
The Creative Year is a Project 52… but a supercharged version!
Instead of tossing you a vague, lonely little one-word prompt and sending you on your way, you’ll get:
✨ Tutorials on creative techniques
✨ Hacks, modification and pro tips to help you approach and complete each prompt
✨ Inspiration + example ideas to spark your imagination
✨ Encouragement to explore, experiment, and have fun with the prompt!
This isn’t just “here’s a word, go figure it out.”
It’s a guided, inspiring, creativity-boosting experience designed to help you get the most out of every single week - and with others doing the same thing too!
Every month you'll get 4–5 prompts (one for every week of 2026!) so you always have something fun, creative, and doable to shoot. No more “I don’t know what to photograph” moments.
Some prompts will be hands-on creative techniques — complete with tutorials so you know exactly what to do, how to try it, and the different ways you can explore it.
Other prompts will be playful creative challenges designed to get you thinking differently, beating creative blocks, and seeing the world with fresh eyes again.
Each prompt has a PDF guide to download with tons of ideas for how to approach and explore it— with tips, examples, suggested tools and photo inspiration.
Upload your images inside the course platform and get inspired by how others interpret the prompts. (Once we get going I’ll share my own images, pullbacks, and settings so you can see how I approached the prompts right alongside you!)
You’ll also get access to our private student-only Facebook community — a warm, welcoming place to connect, share, and stay motivated all year long.
I’ve been a photographer for 17 years and a photography educator for over a decade, helping nearly 8,000 students from all around the world fall in love with their cameras.
But even with all that experience & knowledge… I STILL go through phases where I don’t feel creative at all.
Some weeks I stare at my camera and think, “I really need to get back into photography...." but nothing leaps out at me, I don't feel inspired, so it ends up right back on the shelf for another month. (Sound familiar?!)
That’s exactly why I started sketching out some ideas for myself to do in 2026 — just little prompts and fun photo exercises I could do. And as I brainstormed, I felt something…
That little spark - y'know that excited, fizzy, “ooh I can’t wait to try this!” feeling - was coming back.
And I knew immediately: If I needed this, others probably did too!
And so the idea for The Creative Year was born — year-long joy-filled workshop filled with prompts, tutorials, ideas, inspiration, and a creative community to share it all with!
Absolutely — well, if you want 2026 to be the year you feel creative, motivated, and excited to pick up your camera again 😂
This is perfect for you if:
✨ Want ideas and inspiration every week
✨ Feel stuck in a rut and want to reignite your creativity
✨ Need a friendly nudge to pick up your camera more often
✨ Love learning new techniques but don’t want to feel overwhelmed
✨ Want guidance, examples, and tutorials — not just a vague prompt list
✨ Prefer a fun, supportive environment instead of pressure or perfectionism
✨ Want to grow your skills by actually practicing (in a fun, relaxed, creative way!)
✨ Miss the feeling of excitement when you were on fire with photography!
If any of that sounds like you… I personally think you’re going to LOVE The Creative Year.

Each prompt can be adapted to whatever you love to shoot. Nothing is genre-specific, nothing is restrictive, and nothing forces you into taking types of photos that you don't enjoy. (Well, unless I make us do a Self Portrait!!)
Every week, you’ll get tutorials, examples, and ideas that show multiple ways to approach each prompt — so you can interpret them in the way that feels inspiring to you.
If you want to capture the beauty in your everyday life — whatever that looks like — this workshop will fit you perfectly!

If you want 2026 to be the year you pick up your camera with joy, consistency, and confidence.... The Creative Year is exactly where you need to be!
This workshop will officially start at the beginning on January 2026, but all the content for that month will be loaded into the online course portal a few days before that so you can see what you'll be doing first! (Don't worry, I'll break you in gently!)
New content will be released each month, with the last month being December 2026.
That really isn't a problem! The goal of this workshop is not necessarily to do everything - if you just do one creative technique and maybe try it in different ways, you'll get loads of value from the workshop.
You get over a year of access to The Creative Year in our online course portal, with your accessing ending on 31st January 2027.
Plus you'll get PDF guides for each prompt for you to download and keep and use again if you wish!
The content is dripped out, with new content released at the end of each month, starting December 2025.
I have no idea what you know and what you don't know, so I can't answer that - at least not honestly!
What I will say is that this is about more than learning new techniques. It's about having inspiration, guidance and sharing your photos as much as anything else, so even if you know everything I'm going to cover, you should still get tons of value.
That said, I've added in some things that I have never done, so hopefully you'll learn a few new tricks too!
That's totally fine! You'll still benefit from the ideas, inspiration and content we'll be sharing, and you can start anytime!
No, we do expect you to have an understanding of the exposure triangle and how to shoot in manual mode in order to get the most from this workshop.
If you are not there yet, take the Auto to Awesome course and come back here after you have done that!
As soon as you checkout you get instant access to the online course portal - but none of the prompts or challenges will be released until end Dec 2025, when you will get your January prompts.
We'll also send you a confirmation email, with a link to the course portal, so you can log back in to get your prompts each month!
Nope! The goal of this particular workshop is not a specific style or genre, rather get you having fun with lots of different ideas and techniques that you can use to photograph just about anything, or try something new.
So you can take the prompts and use them to get creative images that document your days, get fine art photos you hang on your wall, or find beauty in the mundane!
Each prompt comes with a PDF guide that will either be a step by step how-to, or a guide with different ways to explore the prompt, have fun with it, or hacks you can use!
Some prompts might also include video tutorials for editing (using Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, but you can tailor this to your own editing software)
